design thinker

Monica Reese is a designer that has created beautiful environments and products for 20 years.  Monica incorporates her sensitive use of materials and extensive knowledge of furniture and accessories to create products and environments that speak to specific audiences.

Monica began cultivating her sensibility for design at a very early age. As the daughter of a seamstress, she was exposed to fabrics, textures, and patterns as a young girl. After graduating from UNC Chapel Hill and working in corporate America, Monica’s desire to pursue her passion for design was realized at Pratt Institute in New York City, one of the country’s top Interior Design Schools.  There she received her Master’s Degree in Interior Design.  While in New York City, Monica interned under legendary interior and product designer, Clodagh and celebrity designer, Courtney Sloane.  Monica also gained international exposure while doing a study abroad program in Milan, Italy, the design capital of the world.  These experiences helped to mold her modern classic design aesthetic.

Monica has operated her own design firm, taught design at the Art Institute, and worked in showroom design in the furniture capital of the world, High Point, NC. She has been a furniture and home décor buyer and merchandiser and she has even been on several HGTV shows including Brother vs. Brother with the lovable Property Brothers. She has worked with a multitude of clients ranging from stylish Millennials to downsizing Baby Boomers and most recently Monica co-founded Lure, a GenX focused wellness brand, that she developed and designed.

No matter what the project, Monica subscribes to the philosophy that every project has a story to be told and an audience that it inspires.  Whether it is an environment or a product, Monica develops design solutions that always bring sheer delight to her clients.
